Question 1:-  What is NET Examination ?


Answer:- The candidate who qualifies the NET only, he or she will be eligible to teach in the college or university as an Assistant Professor while a candidate who qualifies for JRF award will be able to pursue research in the relevant subject and is also eligible for the post of Assistant Professor in the college or university level.


Question 2:- What is NTA UGC NET eligibility ?

Answer:- Eligibility to appear in the examination: A candidate who has secured 55% marks (without rounding off) in Post Graduation can appear in this test while there is relaxation of 5% for OBC/SC/ ST/DIVYANG/TRANSGENDER candidate.

The Ph.D. degree holders whose PG examination has been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of date of the declaration of the result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks for appearing in NTA-UGC-NET.

The candidates who are pursuing their PG or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying PG degree (final year or last semester) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been awaited may also apply for this test. Yet such candidates will be admitted conditionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% in case of OBC falling in Non Creamy layer/SC/ST/DIVYANG).Such candidates must complete their PG or equivalent examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified for this test.
